The official health orders for the restrictions which take effect at 12:01am April 28th have been released.

The orders provide some clarity to the recently announced restrictions.

Many of our members and operators across the industry had wondered whether restaurants in food courts would be required to fully close. The orders clarify that food court seating will be closed, and food court restaurants may open for take-out and delivery. Please see sections 5(4) and 5(5).

As well, we had heard some confusion surrounding gatherings indoors at businesses versus in private settings. The orders also clarify this. For example, weddings may still be held at restaurants or similar venues at the limit of ten people, other than the officiant and photographer, if the operator of the premises takes reasonable measures to ensure people attending can maintain a separation of two meters, and if the restaurant/business follows all other orders set out in the health orders. See all of sections 2 and 3 for more information.

As announced previous by the province, the only updates to these orders for restaurants and licensed establishments (sections 6 and 7) are that patio seating is now restricted to four per table, rather than the previous six.
