The COVID-19 pandemic has been an extremely challenging time for all Manitobans. Sadly, too many operations have succumbed to Covid-19 restrictions and our hearts go out to these operators that have poured so much of their life into their businesses.
The devastating impact of this virus required the unprecedented, but I continue to engage our governments – both municipal and provincial – to come to the table with realistic and beneficial programs to help retain our industry for years to come. These actions are critical in saving businesses since the shutdown has driven an equally unprecedented shock to our economy, affecting the livelihoods of thousands of Manitobans.
Faced with these dual challenges, our members have done what we do best. We have come together as industry and shown our resiliency. On a daily basis, we see incredible feats of diversification, sacrifice and innovation, from border to border.
Now is the time for recovery, to start building plans to bring our workers and our economy back. We all desperately want to start on the road to recovery and our focus is on a measured and graduated approach to do so safely and sustainably.
During this pandemic we have really come to understand the power and importance of digital technologies – our industry will forever be changed and we continue to strive to advocate to bring innovative technology to our members in order to streamline operations, create new revenue streams and safely connect with Manitobans. Stay Positive. Stay Safe.
