To Our Valued Members,

As we enter month 16 of this Covid-19 roller coaster, I am very proud of all of you who have sacrificed so much – both during the previous months of the pandemic and now as we move towards recovery.

I continue to receive that ever popular feedback on what we did well and what we could have improved upon during a time that has changed the benchmark for what it looks like to be a successful food service operator.

The challenge of being open, then closed, and back open again, has created a stigma of inconsistency in our industry that most of you are now feeling in the lack of urgency of our staff returning – despite our desperate need for them to move forward during recovery. That’s why we are developing an industry-wide hiring marketing initiative to attract new and excited foodies back to our industry. We also used a recent survey to ask our membership various questions on what you would like to see from government regarding the staffing and hiring issue and we were able to share these comments and feedback with Minster Jon Reyes, who was very keen to continue to support the food service industry through our recovery.

I want to say a personal thank you to Ann Topp, who served on our board of directors until recently, as she moves her career in a new and exciting direction. Ann has been a valuable resource who spent tireless hours representing our industry as our government relations representative on our executive board. We wish her well in her new career path.

The sea is wavy but there is no better team to steer the ship and quit is not in our vocabulary.
