EDIT: THIS POST WAS MADE BEFORE THE ORDERS WERE OFFICIALLY PUBLISHED, AT WHICH POINT THE PROVINCE DECIDED NOT TO CLOSE BEVERAGE ROOMS.
Effective today, beverage rooms & entertainment facilities in the Winnipeg Metro region must close for two weeks, as per the further additional restrictions placed upon our industry that also mandate restaurants and lounges must operate at 50% capacity and limit gathering sizes to 5.
Over the weekend, the MRFA worked alongside the LGCA to provide the option for temporary licensing for these facilities to allow them to remain open while adhering to current guidelines, but this measure was ultimately shut down.
Thank you to the LGCA for their help in our attempts to provide some relief to these facilities being forced to close.
The MRFA will continue to advocate for support, reasonable restrictions, and transparency from the Manitoba government on their reasons and data for continually restricting our industry over others.
Our industry needs help now. Please join us in sharing your story on social media as a member, industry professional – whether you are an owner, operator, or employee affected by these restrictions – or passionate foodie who is watching the devastation of our industry. #saveMBrestaurants
